I'm not joking.
Yes, we do all the stereotypical outdoor activities you would associate with Hawai'i (beach, surfing, hiking, chasing waterfalls, fishing, eating poi and a spam musubi (not necessarily together) etc). So one could understand that after doing these things repeatedly over and over again hundreds if not thousands of times, we get a little bored and crave something new. Therefore, the phenomenon that is FOMO or "fear of missing out." (It's real if it's on Urban Dictionary!)
Whenever something new gets "discovered" on Maui, it travels through the coconut wireless and makes its way around Facebook, Instagram, plus any and all other social media apps you can think of. So if you haven't been there and done that, you definitely feel left out. :( For example:
- I was on the Big Island when Snow Factory opened its first Maui location a few years ago in Wailuku. How did I find out about it? EVERYONE was posting pics on Instagram of the cool, delicious, shave-ice-like treat. And you know Hawaiians can't resist shave ice!
- F'real was introduced on Maui at ONE location, Mako's Mart at Maui Lani 76, and everyone was 'sharing' it on social media.
- Samurai soft serve at Ilima Shell
- Wow Wow Lemonade
- Slappy Cakes
- Like Poke? food truck
Anyway, here's a list of things that I have yet to do on Maui. Hopefully I can make some time to adventure to these places because yes, my FOMO is getting to me...
Go to a commercialized "luau"(just went in Feb. with my sister's wedding guests from the mainland)- Chutes and Ladders tide pool
- Nakalele Blowhole
- Makamaka'ole Falls
- Windmills Hike
- Commando Hike
- Venus Pond
- Samurai soft serve
- Wow Wow Lemonade
- Slappy Cakes
- All Maui's food trucks EXCEPT Like Poke?
- Color Run (might have to wait a whole year to get that opportunity again)
Great post! I just stumbled upon it on Google+. A few of yours are on my list to do as well, including Chutes & Ladders, Windmills hike, Slappy Cakes, and all of the food trucks! We really do have so many things to do on island :)

Mahalo for your warm comment, Kristin. :) Although we are living the "island life," it's still hard to make the time to go out and do things!
