This year the event showcased more than just cheerleading. Next Level Entertainment brought the music and Jay J hosted. Taiko drummers from Zenshin Daiko opened and performances from Konomi Dance Works and Pacific Dance Academy were interspersed throughout.

Hawaiʻi All-Stars was started in 2010 by Kealiʻi "Coach K" Molina, a Maui native. The young team has been turning heads ever since, winning more and more titles and earning more and more trophies every year. Dozens of banners and huge, dazzling trophies are displayed across their gym, currently occupying a Kahului warehouse space.
Even the Kamehameha Maui Warriors varsity cheerleaders, also coached by
Molina, made an appearance at the Showoffs. The high school team is highly celebrated after reaching the
"trifecta" this past cheer season, claiming first-place titles in the
Maui Interscholastic League, Hawaiʻi High School Athletic Association,
and National Cheerleaders Association. Not too shabby for Kamehameha Maui, a small, private school of less than 480 high school students.

Hawaiʻi All-Stars was just featured in an article in
Hana Hou magazine's February/March 2014 issue. A lifestyle magazine by Hawaiian Airlines, the piece has been seen by thousands of Hawaiʻi residents and visitors who fly with Hawaiian Airlines.
One of the All-Star's senior-level teams made up of girls ages 12-18 just returned from winning National Cheerleading Association All-Star National Championships in Dallas, TX. And another group will be heading off to Anaheim, CA March 22-23 to defend their title at USA All-Star Championships.

Parents, families, and friends supported their cheerleaders by purchasing $10 event tickets. |

Cheerleaders these days don't just stand on the sidelines. Most of the Hawaiʻi All-Star members practice 13-18 hours a week, working on dance, acrobatics, and gymnastics. As my little sister, a Hawaiʻi All-Star Senior Level 3 teammate and Kamehameha Schools Varsity cheerleader, loves to quote:
"Athletes lift weights, but cheerleaders lift athletes!"
